10 Screens DLP Digital Projection and Sound. Built in 1988. Operated by Landmark since 1994. The Shattuck Cinemas opened in May 1988 on the ground floor of the lovely Shattuck Hotel in downtown Berkeley, just one block from the University of California-Berkeley. It features an eclectic mix of Hollywood favorites, foreign language cinema and independent film. It is located just one block from the Downtown Berkeley BART station, convenient to the entire Bay Area, including San Francisco, only 12 miles away.

In 2009, the Shattuck Cinemas completed a comprehensive remodel, with new spacious and luxurious theatre seating in all auditoriums, new lighting design, carpets and decor. Two auditoriums have been transformed into Landmark’s exclusive Screening Lounges™, with unique seating options of home-style couches, loveseats, chairs and ottomans, from the LoveSac® company. Upgrades in the lobby and concession area were included in the extensive makeover.

The final element of the revitalized Shattuck Cinemas is the addition of LOT 68, a stylish bar and café adjacent to the lobby. LOT 68 guests are invited to relax with food and cocktails prior to or after a movie, and stop by anytime to watch the Cal game or meet friends.

The Shattuck Cinemas is truly the area’s premier cinema complex, and an East Bay entertainment destination. The venue is part of Downtown Berkeley, and the vibrant center of the city, with a growing arts district at its core – a mecca for movie-goers, art-lovers and food-connoisseurs.
