If you don’t know the name, you almost certainly know the music: Allee Willis was the songwriter of Earth Wind & Fire's “September” and the theme song to “Friends,” and she wrote all the original songs for the “Color Purple” musical. The film digs into her art and her life – she never stopped filming – and features recollections from Questlove, Cyndi Lauper, Lily Tomlin, Paul Reubens, the Pet Shop Boys, Mark Mothersbaugh of Devo, and more.
