3 Screens, DLP Digital Projection and Sound. Operated by Landmark since 1994. The oldest operating movie theatre in the city of Oakland, the Piedmont Theatre opened its doors on September 15, 1917. From its earliest days showing silent films through the studio era (including memorable runs of Jaws and Star Wars in the 1970s) to today's eclectic mix of independent, art-house, and Hollywood fare, the Piedmont has long been a mainstay of the community.
In 2010, the Piedmont Theatre completed a remodeling, returning the vintage theatre to its original grandeur. The remodeling includes modern amenities such as leather theatre seating and upgrades in the lobby and concessions.
During your visit, be sure to stroll the friendly Piedmont Avenue neighborhood, visit the shops, and dine at one of the many fine restaurants.
PARKING: Available on surrounding neighborhood streets where meters run from 8 AM to 6 PM Monday to Saturday.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: Take BART to the 12th Street Station in Downtown Oakland. Then catch the #12 AC Transit bus on Broadway. It will take you to the front of our theatre at the corner of Piedmont and Linda.
ACCESSIBILITY: Auditoriums #2 & #3 are not wheelchair accessible; however, movies will be rotated through the accessible auditorium at this theatre and we encourage guests to call with that request or for that scheduling. Please contact the theatre (510) 985-1252 Press #7 to assist.
